I definitely recommend Savusavu Marina in Fiji for its cyclone moorings. Off the beaten path but a logical end of season destination. Protected by a surrounding reef, mangroves and three 6 ft screw helix pins per mooring, this location is a good and practical choice for cyclone protection.

Austrian Yacht Mambo
We are Sylvia and Heinz on an Austrian sailing vessel (catamaran) and on a mooring here at the Savusavu Marina. The Marina has Helix moorings which are known to be the safest moorings. That was the initial criteria for us to choose this Marina. We survived the cyclone “Winston” with winds up to 140 knots on the moorings. Apparently the most fierce cyclone ever known in the South Pacific. That speaks for itself!
Further more the Marina allows the “boaties” to work or to do small repairs in the water or on land. There is an engineering work shop on the premises and a haul out for catamarans. There are plans to upgrade the amenities. It has a lovely family like atmosphere. We all look after each other. Heinz and I feel very comfortable and safe here.
